The concept of a United Nations Parliamentary Assembly (UNPA) was developed by the World Federalist Movement (WFM), an organization that was started shortly after the United Nations itself, and which has advocated for the creation of a World Parliament.

Many branches and "flavours" of the World Federalist "Movement" have developed over the years with the main branch called WFM-IGP (World Federalist Movement - Institute for Global Policy) located in New York.  The Canadian branch of WFM, WFMC (World Federalist Movement Canada) headquartered in Ottawa, has played a key role in the development of the UNPA concept and advocacy.

UNPA Campaign headquarters are currently located Germany where public support (& funding) for the proposal has been the greatest (followed by Canada).

Support for the establishment of a UNPA continues to grow around the world on the part of individuals and civil society but, our greatest need for support is from elected Parliamentarians at the National Level, who's endorsements and votes are needed in order to move things forward.

Ideally what is needed some say is a "Celebrity Politician" to champion this cause, and I was hoping that might eventually be Justin Trudeau who I talked to back in 2010 and helped get him to endorse.   Unfortunately, despite his (surprising) win in the last election he has not taken up this cause...  so might there be others ?
